KUALA LUMPUR — Feb. 26, 2018: Petronas aims to increase public awareness of the Skim Latihan 1 Malaysia (SL1M) – Graduate Enhancement Employability Scheme (GEES) programme as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives and simultaneously targets to increase the number of applications for this year’s intake.
This is especially so because the success rate in terms of the number of participants employed is evident of the quality of training and exposure given them.
To date, there are 12 batches of GEES with 690 graduates enrolled. Approximately 89 per cent of the participants were employed within three to six months upon completion, with 22 per cent employed by Petronas itself.
Petronas president and group chief executive officer, Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, said the company remains committed to human capital development as it marks its seventh year of involvement in the programme with the launch of the central zone SL1M Interview Programme 2018 last Saturday.
“The Petronas SL1M-GEES programme is designed and developed by the Petronas Leadership Centre. These modules are made to intensify the required skills for fresh graduates to secure a job within a short period of time,” said Wan Zulkiflee in a statement today.
Online application for the programme is open via the Petronas website throughout the year. Applicants must be Malaysian citizens not older than 26 years at the point of application, possess a bachelor’s degree with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and unemployed for the past six to 12 months.
Petronas was awarded the Platinum SL1M Award for Most Philanthropic Employer 2017 during the launch. The award recognises its effort in investing for the development of Malaysia’s graduates through SL1M-GEES. — Bernama
