KOTA TINGGI, Feb 5 2018 : Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PDB) through its subsidiary, Petronas Lubricants Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, is strengthening its position as a national lubricants supplier with the opening of its lubricants operations and storage warehouse in Pengerang, today.
The new warehouse, costing RM350,000, started operations in September last year. The 3,500-sq ft facility is able to store more than 100 lubricant drums, each with a capacity of 209 litres.
PDB Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Mohd Yunus, said the company had appointed Koperasi Pemuda Patriot Pengerang Kota Tinggi Bhd (KOPETRI) as its partner to manage the warehouse.
“Since its appointment in September 2017, KOPETRI had recorded RM180,000 sales until December last year, and expects to hit RM1.5 million sales this year,” he said at the media briefing during the warehouse’s launching ceremony in Kampung Bukit Raja here.
The launching ceremony was officiated by Johor Public Works, Rural and Regional Development Committee Chairman, Datuk Hasni Mohammad, who represented Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Mohd Ibrahimnuddin said the location of the warehouse, only five kilometres from the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC), was expected to strengthen its lubricants sales in the district and at the same time offered more employment opportunities to local residents.
Earlier, Mohamed Khaled, in his speech that was read by Hasni, described the opening of the warehouse as timely and was in line with the state government’s efforts to look after the socio-economic well-being of the residents in tandem with the rapid development in PIC.
“With the support from various parties, including Petronas itself, I am confident Pengerang will emerge as a hub to develop the downstream oil and gas industry which will also stimulate the local socio-economic growth,” he said.
Meanwhile, KOPETRI Chairman, Aznan Tamin said the warehouse would be able to supply up to 400 drums of lubricants per month, valued between RM300,000 and RM400,000, for use by commercial vehicles and heavy machinery in PIC.
“Among the types of lubricants supplied will be Petronas Urania brand gear, engine and hydraulic oils,” Aznan said. – Bernama
