KEMAMAN, June 25 2018 : Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) has donated RM1 million for the poor in Terengganu.

Its East Coast region general manager Wan Mohd Hasnan Abdullah said the donation, given since May, was for 400 poor families in the Kemaman, Dungun and Kuala Nerus districts since last May.

“The allocation is under the Sentuhan Kasih Petronas programme and includes essential items worth RM80 comprising rice, flour, oil, milk and sugar for one year from May this year until April next year.

“The RM1 million allocation also includes implementing a one-year human resource development programme for 100 women from fishermen families as well as single mothers in the Kuala Nerus district,” he said when met at the Kemaman District Aidilfitri gathering at the Padang Astaka parking area here yesterday.

Wan Mohd said Terengganu was one of the eight states besides Melaka, Johor, Kedah, Selangor, Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak which benefited from the Sentuhan Kasih Petronas food aid programme worth RM7 million for 5,400 families in the country.

He said the contribution was part of Petronas’ on-going commitment to help lighten the burden of the poor in the country. – Bernama
