Petronas committed to supporting Sarawak’s O&G development

KUCHING — Feb. 12, 2020: Petronas is committed to supporting the aspiration of Sarawak in developing the oil and gas industry for the benefit of its people and the nation.

In reaffirming this peldge today, the national oil company’s president and CEO Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin said that since 1974, the purpose of Petronas has been deeply rooted in its responsibility to develop and maximise the value of Malaysia’s hydrocarbon resources.

“Driven by this trust, Petronas is indeed proud to be a long-standing partner to Sarawak,” he said at the Sarawak domestic gas signing ceremony witnessed by the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

The signing marks a new chapter in the company’s collaboration with Sarawak, which reflects its commitment to collaborate and support the state government through its oil and gas company, Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros).

Under the commercial arrangement, the sale and purchase of the gas distribution businesses and assets in Miri and Bintulu will be undertaken by Petros, which will assume the role as gas transporter and aggregator, and carried out by its subsidiary Petros Gas.

Additionally, Petronas will provide long-term supply of natural gas for Petros’ onward sale in Miri and Bintulu.

Prior to today’s collaboration, Wan Zulkiflee said Petronas had sealed a partnership with the State Economic Planning Unit to develop the Sarawak petrochemicals master plan study. — Bernama
