IPOH — Aug. 22, 2019: Perak state executive councillor Paul Yong Choo Kiong, who will be charged with rape tomorrow, has been advised to take leave from his official duties pending disposal of the case.
If he does this, there will however be no reshuffle of the exco line-up since Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu feels that the other exco members are capable of jointly administering the state.
He said the state government respects the legal process and upholds the principle that a person is innocent until proven otherwise.
Faizal said he was happy with Yong’s performance and described the Tronoh assemblyman as very cooperative.
The federal police criminal investigation director Datuk Huzir Mohamed today confirmed that Yong will be charged.
