KUALA LUMPUR – May 13, 2015: The PAS Kota Bharu division will not apologise for having the DAP’s Lim Kit Siang as a panellist at a forum it organised last Sunday despite criticisms from within the party.

At the event entitled ‘Kukuhkan Pakatan Hancurkan Barisan’ (Strengthen Pakatan Destroy Barisan), Lim repeated his strong opposition to the plan to impose hudud laws in the state.

Divisional chief Datuk Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah’s defence is that Lim’s position on the issue wasn’t new.

“The forum was merely an initiative to strengthen the bond between Pakatan component parties and we still believe in the hudud plan,” he said.

The event was also attended by PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli.

Gombak PAS Youth chief Dr. Mohd. Nor Husin was reported by a Malay daily as blaming the Kota Bharu division while adding that it should apologise to the people of Kelantan and other PAS members.

Pasir Mas member of parliament and son of the late Datuk Nik Aziz, Nik Abduh, was also critical of the division, maintaining that no one would have dared to do so if his father was alive.

Wan Rahim, however, countered by claiming that Lim was adored by Nik Aziz.

“They were close and Nik Aziz would not have any problem with Lim’s presence in the state.

“Lim always visited Nik Aziz in Kelantan even after he was no longer the mentri besar and when Nik Aziz was hospitalised.”

Wan Rahim also said that Nik Aziz had always reminded PAS members to respect Lim despite the differences between the two parties.
