PONTIAN — Nov. 7, 2019: PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang used his presence last night in Tanjung Piai to drive home the message that his party fully supports the MCA ,which is representing Barisan Nasional in the by-election, and wants to ensure its victory.
PAS can support the MCA candidate (Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng) who is a non-Muslim, who understands Islam which is taught not only as a religion but also a way of life, said Hadi.
“Even though we have different opinions, we are united for Malaysia in the same boat. The MCA candidate represents us all,” Hadi told the crowd at a BN ceramah (political rally) in Rimba Terjun.
Present were Umno president Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong and Wee.
Zahid described the presence of PAS as a manifestation that the party does not recognise the Barisan Jemaah Islamiah (Berjasa) candidate.
Berjasa is an ally of PAS in Gagasan Sejahtera.
Polling is on November 16 for the by-election called following the death of Datuk Md. Farid Md. Rafik of Pakatan Harapan on September 21 of heart complications.
The contest will be between Pakatan candidate Karmaine Sardini, Wee, Wendy Subramaniam of Gerakan, Datuk Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz of Berjasa and independents Dr. Ang Chuan Lock and Faridah Aryani Abdul Ghaffar. — Bernama
