Pas’ double-stance decisions draw flaks

KUALA LUMPUR – Nov 24, 2015: Selangor Pas leaders had continuously been criticised for staying in the PKR-led Pakatan Harapan state administration.

This was due to its recent decision to oppose the DAP-led government in Penang.

The Mole noted that many political analysts, bloggers, and netizens were of the same wavelength in ridiculing Selangor Pas actions on the matter which were conflicting to its principles.

It was reported last week that Pas secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman said that the party will remain in the state administration even though it has decided to be in the opposition in Penang.

Pas state executive councillors in Selangor have decided to carry out their duties as usual, alongside their colleagues  from PKR and DAP.

Ever since the move by Penang Pas to act as part of the opposition in the State, political analysts were reported to suggest for the party to be consistent and adopt the same stand in all other states.

In an earlier report, Penang Pas secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said that the party decided to break away from the DAP-led state government following the sacking of 300 village development and security committee (JKKK) members from Pas.

In light of the issue, the commenters at an online news portal known for its opposition stance claimed that Pas is suffering serious problems as the party was making conflicting decisions.

Unique Sense said “Pas, how can you have two stances in one country? In Kelantan and Terenganu you pull out of Pakatan Rakyat because you have nothing to attract you, but in Selangor you have muka tebal (no shame) wanting to stay with PR.

Slick: “PAS have really gone downhill post Nik Aziz, Hadi is the new Umno with a more Islamic outfit. He cares more about Hudud than putting an end to a corrupt government.”

The Original: “It is the in thing for Pas to be in marriages of convenience. If it is convenient, they will stick to the partner. When it becomes inconvenient, they go look for another. How do you work with a party that does not hold the promises, unfaithful, selfish, extreme, manipulative, uses their lutut (knee) and more importantly looking for nothing but power?”

Tourist: “Should DAP or Pas leave Selangor government? I suppose it depends on whether Selangor is a Pakatan Rakyat government or a Pakatan Harapan government. If it’s a PR government then DAP should be the one leaving because DAP has declared PR dead. If it’s a PH government, then Pas should leave.”

Party Amanah Negara (Amanah) deputy president Salahudin Ayub told The Mole that it is a no-shocker for Pas to make such conflicting decisions as ever since the party’s 60th muktamar (annual general meeting), the party had decided to sever its partnership with DAP but still wanted to be part of the opposition.

“It all depends on Pas’ stand. However, I am not shocked over the party’s decision in Penang,” added the former Pas vice-president.

In the meantime, blogger Dr Novandri Hasan Basri of “Dr MiM” in a posting urged the sole Pas representative in the Penang legislature, Permatang Pasir assemblyman Datuk Mohd Salleh Man to state his stand on the matter.

“The Permatang Pasir assemblyman admits that he is a Pas member who support a DAP-led government. Salleh should really make up his mind on this,” the blogger wrote.
