SHAH ALAM, Sept 17 : PAS splinter group leaders yesterday launched the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), despite not having received approval from the Registrar of Societies (RoS).

Amanah is the re-branding of Parti Pekerja-pekerja Malaysia (PPM).

Speaking at the launch organised by PPM, president of the Amanah pro-tem committee Mohamad Sabu expressed confidence the party’s new name would get RoS approval in the near future.

At a press conference later, Mohamad, better known as ‘Mat Sabu’ was asked about Amanah’s willingness to work with Pas.

He said the party would discuss with DAP and PKR and take a common stand on the matter.

Meanwhile, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who spoke to reporters at an event in Kuala Lumpur, said the party would act as a ‘middleman’ to resolve disputes between Pas and DAP.

“We are in discussions with both members of the opposition (Pas and DAP). I will meet Pas on Monday, and am in the process to get a date to meet DAP to make the next move,” she told reporters after officiating at the Gombak PKR annual general meeting. – Bernama
