PUTRAJAYA — Feb. 12, 2019: A part of Kuala Lumpur’s Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman from Jalan Esfahan to Jalan Melayu will be off limits to all vehicles except buses and pedestrians beginning March 15.
The closure of the one-kilometre stretch is for the convenience of the people, especially shoppers.
The decision to close this section was made after a majority of respondents of an online survey by KL City Hall (DBKL) agreed with the proposal, said Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad.
If the situation is good after the closure, DBKL is ready to allow bazaar traders to do business there during Ramadan. The stretch can accommodate up to 200 lots.
Khalid said the closure will also safeguard the interests of business owners whose shops at the old site of the Ramadan bazaar were adversely affected. — Bernama
