Parliament session postponed to May 18

KUALA LUMPUR — March 4, 2020: The Dewan Rakyat session scheduled for this Monday has been postponed to May 18.

Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Arif Md. Yusof announced today that the house will sit until June 23.

“As the Dewan Rakyat speaker, I find that the dates for the meetings are in line with Standing Order 11 (2),” said Arif in a statement.

The house will not sit from May 26 to May 28 due to Hari Raya and there will also be short breaks on June 1 and 2 due to Hari Gawai and on June 8, which is the King’s official birthday.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has also proposed the introduction of an annual calendar for the Dewan Rakyat.

The second meeting will be from July 27 to August 27, during which the 12th Malaysia Plan will be tabled.

It will also not sit on July 30, Aug. 19 and 20 to observe Hari Raya Aidil Adha and Awal Muharam respectively.

The third and final meeting of the year will begin from September 28 to November 26 when Budget 2021 will be tabled.

It will take a day’s break on October 29 due to Maulidul Rasul.
