KUALA LUMPUR — May 25, 2018: The Pakatan Harapan government does not support media blackouts and instead has a policy advocating press freedom.
According to Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo, anyone is open to write to him if there is any situation goes against this policy.
“We do not promote or support media blackouts. That is something the previous government did and we disapproved of it.
The Puchong MP was referring to a claim by Sarawak Barisan Nasional minister, Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, to the Dayak Daily and reported by news portal Malaysiakini that RTM was blacking out certain news since Pakatan took over the federal government after the May 9 general elections.
“He (Karim) is welcome to write to me officially if he wants to, and if he does I will certainly look into it,” Gobind said at his Twitter account tonight. — Bernama
