“I know him (Anwar), he is very forgiving. We will ask him to be stern against these individuals. We don’t want him to be too forgiving. He knows about their agendas,” said Dr Idris (pic).

PETALING JAYA — December 12, 2019: A PKR pressure group, Otai Reformis (OR), wants the party’s upper echelons to sack seven leaders, including deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali over their alleged insubordination.

The group chairman, who is also PKR assemblyman for Ijok, Dr Idris Ahmad claimed that the leaders had severely tainted the party’s image by defying its leadership.

“They have their own personal agenda and it is not one that would benefit the people,” said Dr Idris who lead an entourage from OR to PKR headquarters here today to submit a memorandum, urging for the sacking of the seven.

The “rebellion” by Azmin and others, as cited by Dr Idris includes their walk out at PKR’s national congress in Melaka last weekend and their needling on PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at a gathering in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

Besides Azmin, these are the others whose sacking were demanded by OR;

  1. PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin
  2. PKR vice-president Tian Chua
  3. PKR deputy youth chief Hilman Idham
  4. Selangor PKR chief Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari
  5. PKR women chief Haniza Talha
  6. Permatang Pauh PKR deputy division chief Dr Afif Bahardin

On a question over the legitimacy of OR’s demand due to it not being escalated from within the party, Dr Idris explained that the demand was done in accordance to the spirit of PKR’s Permatang Pauh Declaration in 1998.

The declaration was proclaimed by Anwar –at the height of the reformation movement– on September 12, 1998, and since been the clarion call in the party’s struggle against Barisan Nasional.

If their demand was ignored, Dr Idris said OR will proceed to meet Anwar and implore him to take the matter seriously.

“I know him (Anwar), he is very forgiving. We will ask him to be stern against these individuals. We don’t want him to be too forgiving. He knows about their agenda,” said Dr Idris.
