KUALA LUMPUR – February 20, 2020: PKR’s veteran group Otai Reformis 1998 has reiterated its skepticism towards Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s promise to hand over the premiership to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim after the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in November.

The group, which had planned to hold a street protest if Mahathir does not honour the Pakatan Harapan agreement for him to step down in May, pointed out that the prime minister had lied over this previously.

Otai Reformis chairman Dr. Idris Ahmad said his group does not take Mahathir at his word, suggesting that the PM was only fooling the people when he made the promise to step down.

“We do not trust Mahathir… He is a compulsive liar,” Idris remarked.

He further suggested that Mahathir will likely pull a U-turn and go back on his promise, hence Otai Reformis members are not waiting until November to act.

The group is awaiting the outcome of the Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting this Friday before deciding on its next step.

Otai Reformis 1998 will present a memorandum to Pakatan component parties at the meeting.
