State Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said it was common for some political leaders to come out with such a baseless allegation when the general election was nearing.
“There has been no collusion between us (Umno) and Pas or Amanah to topple any political party in the state,” he told reporters at the Jeli parliamentary constituency-level ‘Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat’ here today.
Mustapa said this in response to the allegation by Pas vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah that he had information on the conspiracy between Amanah and Umno in Kelantan to topple Pas in the GE14.
As Kelantan Umno Liaison Committee chairman, Mustapa said he had never met either Pas or Amanah leaders to discuss on the downfall of any party.
Meanwhile, Mustapa, who is also International Trade and Industry Minister, said the ‘Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat’ programme, advocated by the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry, was part of the government’s commitments to help ease the financial burden of the people.
“This programme is an aspiration of the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak) to ease the burden of the people in terms of their daily expenses,”he added.
Essential goods such as chicken, meat, fish and cooking oil were sold at lower prices during the programme. – Bernama
