KUALA LUMPUR — November 14, 2016: PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Aziz has described the political gestures of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad as empty gimmick that will only bring confusion to national politics.

This is because the 91-year-old statesman is now active in raising issues, such as the oil royalty and release of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from prison, which should have been resolved when he was heading the government.

“He was the one who denied the oil royalty to Kelantan, and now he wants the royalty to be paid. He was the one who put Anwar in jail, now he wants Anwar freed.

“When he was in power, he did not bother to do so. Now that he has no power, he raises all the issues. I think it’s better for him to spend his time worshipping Allah, going to Mecca and learning more about Islam. It’ll be good
for him,” Nik Abduh remarked to reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

He said this in response to the former prime minister’s attacks on PAS for allowing it to be obligated apparently to certain quarters to go against the opposition coalition.

On Saturday, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak also rapped Mahathir for forgetting the fact that PAS was marginalised by the opposition after a fallout with DAP and not anything else.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had also denied his party was in cahoot with Umno and Barisan Nasional when it did not want to cooperate with Pakatan Harapan. — Bernama
