KUALA LUMPUR — March 19, 2018: Tabung Haji has assured that its new and bigger complex near the KL International Airport will enable it to better manage pilgrims on their way to the holy land.

The complex called the Movenpick Hotel and Convention Centre (MHCC) which will be operational beginning the coming haj season in July.

Currently the Kelana Jaya complex can only process 500 people departing pilgrims at once but the capacity will be double that at MHCC, said TH corporate communications head Anis Zuhaini Ahmad.

MHCC is a 4-star hotel and convention centre built and owned by TH properties Sdn. Bhd., a fully owned subsidiary of TH. It will have 333 rooms on nine floors. The convention centre can hosts 1,500 people at one time.

According to information from TH, MHCC’s main income will come from the rental of convention halls and the hotel, which has seminar and banquet halls, restaurants, cafés and spas.

Former Group Managing Director and CEO of TH Tan Sri Ismee Ismail had said before that TH’s decision to appoint Movenpick Hotels and Resort as the hotel operator was because of its extensive experience in hosting pilgrims in the Middle East as well as meeting corporate travellers’ needs all year round.

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts is represented in 28 countries, with over 90 hotels existing or under construction.

There are claims by a pro-opposition web portal describing the new complex as a waste of depositors money since its sole purpose is for pilgrims.
