KUALA LUMPUR — May 8 2020: Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is looking down on the attempt to table a no-confidence motion in Parliament against the leadership of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He is of the view that if the motion fails, the notion that the Perikatan Nasional government is a backdoor one will no longer apply, which means the motion is in fact of no benefit to Pakatan.
But if the motion succeeds, Najib said Muhyiddin can always advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to dissolve Parliament and call for fresh elections.
In his Facebook post last night Najib also expressed doubts if Pakatan really wants to table the motion.
Former prime minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad had written to the Dewan Rakyat to submit the motion and this has been accepted by speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md. Yusof but what is uncertain is when the motion will be tabled. Parliament is due to meet only for one day on May 18.
