KUALA LUMPUR — October 5, 2015: The TV14 news portal today reported that Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has told his lawyer to demand an apology from former MCA president Tun Dr. Ling Liong Sik for allegedly calling for Najib to be removed as prime minister.

The alleged call by Ling was published in an English news portal two days ago.

According to TV14, a letter to this effect was served by hand to Ling today by the law firm of Messrs Hafarizam Wan & Aisha Mubarak on behalf of Najib in his personal capacity. Among others, it demands that Ling apologises within seven days.

It said failure to do so would result in legal action being taken against the former transport minister.

According to TV14, lawyer Datuk Hafarizam Harun, for the firm, said in the letter that the remarks were defamatory and had damaged Najib’s reputation, besides being inclined to bring down Najib’s image in the eyes of the people.

The portal said Hafarizam has also demanded that Ling retract the remarks, issue an unequivocal apology and pay reasonable compensation as restitution. — Bernama
