KOTA KINABALU — Nov. 28, 2019: Former Sabah chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman has lost his appeal in challenging the appointment of Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal as his successor.

In reading out the decision by the panel also comprising Justices Datuk Rhodzariah Bujang and Datuk Mohamad Zabidin Mohd. Diah, Datuk Kamardin Hashim ordered Musa to pay RM20,000 to the first respondent, Sabah head of state Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, and RM80,000 to Shafie.

In objecting the appeal, Datuk Douglas Lind from the state Attorney-General’s office, tendered a letter signed by Sabah State Assembly secretary Shafaruddin Halide, listing all the assemblymen and their political affiliates who support Shafie’s Parti Warisan Sabah-led government.

He argued that the appeal thus had no basis since as it would have no consequences, should the court grant it, nor have an effect on Shafie’s position who has the support of the house.
