PUTRAJAYA — March 11, 2020: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has confirmed writing to his predecessor Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to ask that the legal and constitutionally formed government be endorsed.

He also asked for forgiveness from Mahathir.

This was stated by Muhyiddin after he had chaired his first Cabinet meeting today.

Muhyiddin, 72, was sworn in as prime minister on March 1 after over a week of political turmoil following the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government.

Mahathir was quoted as saying that Muhyiddin had betrayed him by forming the new government via an alliance with then opposition parties, especially Umno, which the former said was led by kleptocrats.
