SUBANG JAYA — March 20, 2015: A professor from Harvard University has asked Malaysia to be more inclusive for it to have a better education system instead of focusing on a particular ethnic group.
To Professor Dwight Perkins, doing the latter will not help Malaysia improve its education system.
Thus fundamental changes are needed to make Malaysian society more innovative.
Perkins spoke on these points today at the Fourth Southeast Asian Studies symposium at Sunway University, the first time it’s being held away from Oxford University, the venue for the first three.
According to Perkins, a apublic university has the advantage of a head start but it is often hindered by the kind of restriction he had touched on earlier.
He further suggested that Malaysia concentrate on producing a first class institution instead of emphasising on social aid.
