PUTRAJAYA — April 11, 2017: More affordable housing (Rumawip) will be built in the federal territories this year and beyond.

Until last month, four Rumawip projects had been launched and today, a fifth — Residensi Rimbunan — was launched and expected to be ready by 2020.

Balloting for the Residensi Rimbunan in Bandar Baru Sri Petaling was also held today at the FT Ministry here.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said about 70 per cent or 55,609 Rumawip units had been built so far from the total target of 80,000 units by 2020.

The ministry also plans to launch the council home scheme to enable young married couples to rent a unit up to five years while waiting to own one.

To be launched later are housing units for rent for single people working in the services industry, with the size measuring 650 sq ft, and located near public transport stations. — Bernama
