SHAH ALAM, Jan 17 2019 : National motorcycle company, Motorsikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (Modenas) is targeting to sell 10,000 motorcycles by year-end.
Chief executive officer Amirudin Abd Kadir said the target was achievable based on encouraging sales of its current motorcycle line-up, launch of an upcoming new model and by leveraging its partnership with India’s renowned auto maker, Bajaj Auto Ltd.
Since 2017, he said Modenas had sold 9,800 motorcycles from the street bike, moped and superbike categories.
He said 2,800 units of Modenas Pulsar RS and 4,700 units of Modenas Pulsar NS had been sold since the motorcycles were launched in April 2017.
The company also sold 1,200 units of Modenas V15 cruiser and 1,100 units of Modenas Dominar D400.
Speaking to reporters at the Pulsar Dareventure Motorcycle Reality Show Malaysian Edition launched here yesterday, Amirudin said Modenas aimed to increase its market share from the current 40 per cent for the below 1,000cc motorbikes and six per cent in the moped and streetbike segment.
It will also enhance its after-sales service with the opening of 30 additional Modenas Service Plus Centres nationwide by year-end, bringing the total number of service centres to 45.
“A total of 45 Modenas Service Plus Centres will be established by end-2019, with an investment of RM1.3 million,” added Amirudin. – Bernama
