PUTRAJAYA — Aug. 8, 2019: Datuk Isham Ishak, the secretary-general of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has clarified that while he was called by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday as part of an investigation, he is not a suspect in the case.

“It’s true that I was called up….. it was for the second time. I am assisting in an investigation, I am not being investigated. These are two different things,” Isham said at a press conference.

A Bernama report said Isham was asked to explain procedures and what had taken place at the ministry.

He provided the information asked, along with certain documents, but would not reveal more about the investigation.

Isham was called up in relation to investigations on a social media campaign decided before the general elections in May last year. He was appointed to his current position last January after having served in the same capacity at the international trade and industry ministry.
