PUTRAJAYA — April 1, 2019: A man who is a political secretary to a minister was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission earlier today for alleged gratification involving a watch costing RM28,000 .
In his statement, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub confirmed the arrest but added that he would let the law takes its course.
“I hold fast to the principle of law and I am confident and believe that the MACC will investigate fairly and independently,” he said.
Bernama reported that aide was detained by the MACC on suspicion of accepting a bribe in the form of the watch.
The 47-year-old man was taken into custody later in the afternoon after he had given his statement at the MACC headquarters here.
The man was believed to have accepted the watch as an inducement to enable a developer to be awarded projects under the ministry’s purview.
