KUALA LUMPUR — Jan. 9, 2018: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan has served Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Rafizi Ramli a letter of demand for an apology within seven days.
The letter dated January 5 issued to Rafizi through Messrs Raja Riza & Associates was in connection with the false and malicious statement made about Rahman in awarding the Ekspo Negaraku 2017 contract.
Among others, the letter asks Rafizi to retract his statement and publish an apology within seven days from the date of the letter.
Rahman said today that if Rafizi fails to abide by the demand within the stipulated period, he would instruct his lawyers to file a defamation suit against the Pandan Member of Parliament.
He said an attempt to deliver the letter directly to Rafizi failed as he was not at his office at his service centre.
“A second attempt was made yesterday at the same address but he was again not at his office. Hence, the letter was accepted by one Mohd. Shariffudin who is believed to be a staff member at the centre,” said Rahman’s statement.
Rafizi had alleged that the Ekspo Negaraku contract was awarded to Rahman’s older brother Raslan through a company he owned.
Yesterday, Rafizi was reported to have said that a defamation suit had yet to be filed by Rahman although three weeks had passed since the latter said he would take legal action. — Bernama
