KUALA LUMPUR, May 14 2018 : The Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) has commenced an investigation into claims made by AirAsia Group Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.

A Mavcom spokesman said the aviation regulatory body considered the claims made in a nearly eight-minute-long video, which was posted on Fernandes official Facebook page yesterday, as serious allegations.

“We have immediately commenced an investigation into these claims. We will keep members of the public informed,” said the spokesman in a statement last night.

Earlier yesterday, in the video, Fernandes among others claimed that Air Asia was told by Mavcom to cancel all additional 120 flights that were made available at affordable prices for people to go back to vote in the 14th General Elections on May 9.

He claimed that although the people were overjoyed, he unfortunately had been pressured by the previous government when it is realised the airline was ferrying so many voters. – Bernama
