KUALA LUMPUR — Oct. 17, 2017: Malaysia Airlines is taking note of the unexpected announcement by RyanAir Holdings PLC to the London Stock Exchange regarding its chief executive officer Peter Bellew.
Earlier today, international media reported that Bellew would be returning to RyanAir as its chief operations officer on December 1.
In a statement today, Malaysia Airlines said its board of directors would meet and make an announcement accordingly.
The airline said its operations and services would continue as usual, reiterating its commitment to customers. The turnaround of Malaysia Airlines also remains on track as per the Recovery Plan.
According to the airline, Bellew had expressed his commitment to Malaysia Airlines when asked to comment on speculations that he would re-join RyanAir during a press conference with Malaysian and international media on September 27.
He had said then that he was happy to be in Malaysia and was also quoted as saying the turnaround of Malaysia Airlines would be the “greatest achievement of my life”. — Bernama
