KUALA LUMPUR — Feb. 12, 2019: Selangor remained as the most populous state in the country by the end of last year with 6.5 million people while Putrajaya had the smallest with a population of 91,900.
The total population of the country was 32.6 million, up by 1.1 per cent from end of 2017.
According to the Department of Statistics, of the total 16.8 million were males.
Chief statistician Datuk Sri Dr. Mohd. Uzir Mahidin said there were 127,400 live births in Q4 2018, a decrease of 2.5 per cent compared to a year before.
A total of 65,800 were male babies, with Selangor registering the highest number of live births at 25,600 and Labuan the lowest with 420.
There were 41,400 deaths, a decrease of 1.9 per cent as compared to Q4 2017. The number of male deaths were 23,800 compared to females with 17,600. — Bernama
