Malaysians in quake-hit Aceh safe

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 2016 : The Foreign Ministry said all Malaysians in Indonesia’s Sumatra are safe following an earthquake today in the Aceh province.

News reports stated that at least 52 people were killed in the 6.4-magnitude quake that struck off the north-east coast of Sumatra at 5.03am (6.03am in Malaysia).

The ministry said in a statement that the 428 Malaysian students in Banda Acheh were reported to be safe.

It advised Malaysians in the vicinity of the quake in need of consular assistance to contact the Malaysian consulate general in Medan at No. 43, Jalan P. Diponegoro, Medan, 20152 North Sumatra.
