Malaysian universities improve their Asian rankings

KUALA LUMPUR — October 17, 2017: Five Malaysian universities are now ranked among the top 50 in Asia.

They are Universiti Malaya, which is ranked 24th, Universiti Putra Malaysia (36th), University Kebangsaan Malaysia (43rd), University Sains Malaysia (46th) and University Teknologi Malaysia (49th). Last year they were ranked 27th , 49th, 55th, 51st and 63rd respectively.

The QS University Rankings 2018 report also listed another 17 Malaysian public and private universities among Asia’s top 300.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, in a statement today, said the rankings prove that Malaysian universities are able to deliver quality education across the board.

He thanked those contributed to make it possible for these universities to record what he described as their best ever performance in the rankings.
