PUTRAJAYA — Aug. 7, 2019: Malaysian construction firm Olie Scape Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (OSH) is building 7,000 homes in Makkah under phase one of a project planned for 30,000 units.
The balance could be offered to the company if it successfully completes the first package which costs RM2.4 billion of the entire project’s total of RM12 billion.
OSH today signed a memorandum of understanding here with Al-Aaly Factory For Prefab Houses Co. Ltd., under which the latter will supply the industrialised building system components to OSH. At the event OSH was represented by its group chairman Datuk Shahoran Johan Ariffin while AAFPH was represented by its chairman Syeikh Fahad Alotaibi.
According to Bernama, the Malaysian company is also in with a chance to be involved in another project to be sited between the holy cities on Makkah and Madinah to cater for pilgrims from Southeast Asia.
The project is still under discussion with the Saudi Arabian government which has already approved the construction plan, said Shahoran.
It will be integrated with the high-speed rail system, thus allowing pilgrims to perform their zohor (noon) prayers in Madinah and asar (night) in Makkah.
