KUALA LUMPUR — November 9, 2016: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) yesterday raided local news portal Malaysiakini’s office in Petaling Jaya.

In a statement to Bernama today, it said the portal was being investigated under the Communications and Multimedia Act.

The raid was conducted together with the police after MCMC had received complaints against Malaysiakini. The statement did not elaborate.

Local media reported that the raid was part of MCMC’s investigation into two video news reports uploaded by KiniTV, a subsidiary of Malaysiakini.
