KUALA LUMPUR — June 28, 2019: Malaysia has received an application from India to extradite preacher Zakir Naik but Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah was adamant today that the government will not budge from its decision not to do so.
“We have received the note (on the application) from the Indian government. I don’t remember when but we have received it.
“For now we do not have any new decision…. we still hold to our original decision,” he said when asked about the statement by the prime minister that Malaysia would not extradite Zakir.
Saifuddin was met after the launch of a book.
Malaysia has stated that it has the right to decide whether or not to extradite Zakir following the Indian government’s insistence on wanting him back for alleged money laundering. — Bernama
