SHAH ALAM — Oct. 13, 2017: The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) has ordered an investigation into a talk by preacher Zamihan Mat Zin that allegedly criticised the royal institution at a mosque here last Sunday.
The council directed the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) to conduct the investigation in accordance with the Credentials Regulation (Selangor state) 2008.
“MAIS clarifies that all religious speakers in Selangor must comply with all provisions stipulated in the regulation.
“These include not delivering religious talks that can incite hatred or may insult or show disrespect towards His Royal Highness the Sultan, the Selangor and federal governments or state Islamic religious authorities or which may create hostility among people in Malaysia,” MAIS chairman Datuk Setia Mohamad Adzib Mohd. Isa said in a statement today.
According to Adzib, Zamihan’s opinion in his lectures did not reflect MAIS or JAIS’ stance.
Zamihan, the president of the Pertubuhan Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah, was arrested by Dang Wangi police on Wednesday after giving his statement for allegedly making racist comments. — Bernama
