PUTRAJAYA — Aug. 22, 2019: Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has confirmed to informing the Cabinet about impending portfolio changes among his ministers, while also confirming that there will not be any new appointment.
He told reporters no minister had also asked to change his or her portfolio.
On the performance of his Cabinet, Mahathir had this to say: “I think they have more than one year’s experience and they are now more able than when they started.”
Referring to the decision in favour of introducing the motorcyle ride hailing services like Indonesia’s GoJek, Mahathir pointed out that consumers have a choice if they think the services are not safe.
“If you feel it is not safe, don’t use. We have a choice and we are not forcing you to take the motorcycle ride,” he remarked in respond to safety concerns regarding such a service, especially for women.
Yesterday, the Cabinet gave the go-ahead to start the service, subject to viability studies and legal provisions.
According to Mahathir, small business can also benefit from motorcyle ride-hailing services. — Bernama
