LANGKAWI, Feb 14 2020 : Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has denied any knowledge about the statutory declarations (SD), purportedly signed by 138 members of parliament, who wanted him to stay on until the end of the term.

The Prime Minister said he has nothing to do with the reported effort to gather support for him and wondered how the 138 signatures were gathered.

“Must be someone else’s work. I don’t know how this is done. If it is true, this means some Pakatan MPs also supported the move,” he told the media here today.

Dr Mahathir, nonetheless, said he has heard of certain quarters wanting him to remain as Prime Minister for many more years.

“I am already 94. In a few months, I’ll be 95. How can I stand (work) for that long,” he quipped.

Dr Mahathir also confirmed to having a meeting with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and that what PKR president said about it was true.

Anwar yesterday said Dr Mahathir had told him during their meeting that he would relinquish his position as Prime Minister as promised.
