PUTRAJAYA — Aug. 30, 2019: Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has categorically stated that there is no vacancy in his Cabinet to accommodate PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“We are not adding, making any change or increase the number of Cabinet members. There is no discussion on Cabinet portfolio change as well,” Mahathir remarked after a Pribumi Bersatu supreme council meeting here yesterday.

Mahathir was asked if he would bring in Anwar into join the Cabinet since they were ‘gandingan mantap’ (solid partners as prime minister and deputy prime minister) in the 90s, reports Bernama.

“Since nobody has indicated they want to resign, we have no vacancy. When we have (any) vacancy, we will consider suitable candidates,” Mahathir continued.

Last week, Mahathir said he did mention about possible changes in the ministers’ portfolios but not a reshuffle.
