KUALA LUMPUR — January 31, 2017: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has opened investigation papers on allegations of misappropriation and abuse of power by Mara chairman Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

The investigation is focused on corruption and abuse of power over Annuar’s involvement in the sponsorship of the Kelantan football team.

Investigations on claims of wrongful governance will be conducted by Mara’s internal audit.

Mara today suspended Annuar from his duties as chairman of Mara and Pelaburan Mara Berhad with immediate effect. The decision was made at a special meeting chaired by Mara council member Datuk Dr. Yusof Yacob.

A source from MACC said five officers visited the Mara head office today to check documents. — Bernama
