KUANTAN, Feb 8 2020 : Lynas Malaysia has launched a website which provides accurate and factual information about the company.
Lynas vice-president of people and culture, Mimi Afzan Afza, said such information about the rare-earth producer will be available at www.lynasfacts.com.
“The aim of this website is to help Malaysians to have a better understand of who we are, how we operate and our contribution to the country’s shared prosperity. We are happy to be able to show this through our new Lynas Facts website.
“Information available on the site will help members of the public fact-check misinformation and claims made about our operations,” she said at a Chinese New Year celebration held by the company at the Jabor old folks home here today.
Mimi Afzan said the information on the website was from sources such as the International Atomic Energy Agency, the government’s 2018 executive review committee, Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) and others.
She also said Lynas is taking the next steps after the recent announcement by the Pahang government that the company was allowed to set up its permanent disposal facility (PDF) in Bukit Ketam.
She said Lynas will submit the plan to AELB for review and to be followed by the application for detailed environmental impact assessment and others.
On Aug 15 last year, the AELB announced that the government had given a conditional six-month licence renewal to Lynas on the condition that the company identifies a specific site to construct a PDF for its water leach purification residue and to obtain written permission from the state government for the use of that site.
