KUALA LUMPUR — July 9, 2019: A former aide to former minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor spoke today about how the Umno politician often gave cash advances of between RM100,000 and RM300,000 a month to the party. At times it could be more.
According to Datuk Mohd. Rahimi Rejab, a secretary to the minister known as Ku Nan for 15 years before quitting last year, Ku Nan also gave the advance for the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections in 2016.
“When Tengku Adnan was in the office, many people came… it was like a fish market,” he said. Ku Nan was then Umno’s secretary-general.
Rahimi however could tell for certain where the money used by Ku Nan came from.
“With regard to the application from Aset Kayamas, I’m not sure if it was submitted personally to the minister or to his office at DBKL because I had no knowledge about it at the early stage,” he said.
But Rahimi did receive an internal memo from a DBKL deputy director-general, Datuk Zulkifli Ibrahim, on a proposal to buy land in Bandar Tun Razak. He then forwarded it to Ku Nan.
