JOHOR BARU — June 4, 2020: Johor Pribumi Bersatu has pledged its support for the Perikatan Nasional state government following a warning by Sultan of Johor yesterday.

A statement today said all of the party’s assemblymen agreed on this at a meeting with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who is also Gambir assemblyman in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

“All the assemblymen will abide by the Sultan of Johor’s order to jointly ensure that the interests of the people are upheld and at the same time strengthen the state Bersatu chapter to be the state government’s pillar,” said the statement.

The meeting was attended by 10 Pribumi Bersatu assemblymen and Pemanis independent Dr. Chong Fat Full. Only former mentri besar Datuk Osman Sapian was absent.

According to the statement, Johor Pribumi Bersatu supports Muhyiddin’s leadership.

The Sultan yesterday warned that he would not hesitate to dissolve the state assembly if politicians to squabble over power.

Johor is controlled by Perikatan, with Datuk Hasni Mohammad of Umno as MB, with 29 of the 56 assemblymen.

Umno and DAP have 14 seats each while the rest are held by Pribumi Bersatu (11), Amanah (9), PKR (4), MIC (2), PAS (1) and one independent.
