JOHOR BARU — Sept. 2, 2020: Johor police is recommending that local authorities blacklist businesses that allow their premises to be used for gambling.

This is seen as necessary since it has been established that there are premises that continue to be used for gambling despite being repeatedly raided.

Today the authorities undertook an integrated operation to cut off electricity supply to four premises in Taman Daya which were found to have been used for gambling.

The premises were supposed to be a convenience store, coffee shop, bookstore and one selling communication equipment.

State police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said Tenaga Nasional Berhad should further investigate premises found with illegal electricity connections.

In the last two months Johor police had conducted 695 raids and arrested 1,018 individuals linked to illegal gambling.
