JOHOR BAHRU — Oct. 23, 2017: This city is the favoured destination for foreigners participating in the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme, with about 40 per cent or 14,000 of 34,531 attracted to it since 2002.
The other cities in Southeast Asia favoured by foreigners are Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
According to state Tourism, Domestic Trade and Consumerism Committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong, most of the foreigners who prefer JB are from China, Japan, Bangladesh, United Kingdom and Iran.
He said that JB’s selection was based on their satisfaction with the affordable cost of living, high tolerance of community, good weather and world class healthcare.
“We will continue to work with the Tourism Ministry to further promote the MM2H,” said Tee adding that the high tea event here today was aimed at obtaining feedback from participants. — Bernama
