KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 2017 : The 1Malaysia NGOs Coalition chairman Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos was remanded for two days from today over his alleged threats against former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Shaharuddin Abdullah said Jamal was arrested to assist the investigations under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentionally hurling insults with the intention to provoke a breach of the peace and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

Yesterday, Jamal, who is also Sungai Besar UMNO Division chief was detained by police at 8pm at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) compound here.

Jamal is reported to have taken umbrage over Zaid’s tweet on Tuesday which allegedly was disrespectful of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor. – Bernama
