KUALA LUMPUR — Oct. 9, 2019: Former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd. Isa Samad did not seek approval from the board to buy a hotel in Kuching although the price was beyond the mandate given for such an investment.
Former Felda director-general Datuk Hanapi Suhada in fact said the approval to buy the Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites in Kuching for RM160 million by Felda’s subsidiary, Felda Investment Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (FICSB), was only implied and had no written decision by the Felda board.
Isa, also the chairman of FICSB, is charged with corruption and criminal breach of trust involving RM3 million between April 2014 and December 2015. The case is being heard before Justice Mohd. Nazlan Mohd. Ghazali.
