PUTRAJAYA — August 15, 2017: Former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission here today in relation to several cases being investigated.
According to the agency’s deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Azam Baki, Isa was arrested at its headquarters late this afternoon.
Isa had gone to the headquarters about two hours earlier with two lawyers but only he was allowed to enter the office. He acknowledged the reporters waiting there before entering the building.
Last month, the MACC opened an investigation into the Felda Investment Corporation’s purchase of a hotel in London’s Kensington at a price believed to be much higher than the market price. FIC reportedly bought the four-star hotel for about RM330 million in December 2014.
It was reported that the MACC also opened an investigation into the FIC’s purchase of a hotel in Kuching after getting information while investigating the London purchase. — Bernama
