KUALA LUMPUR — April 24, 2018: The e-Filing and tax payment service counters of the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) nationwide will be operational end of the week, beginning Friday.
For Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Johor where the weekend is on Friday and Saturday, the counters will be open on Friday and Saturday while for the other states, they will open on Saturday and Sunday.
The counters will open from 9am to 5pm but for Sabah and Sarawak, the operating hours are 8am to 4pm.
These counters are being opened to assist taxpayers who do not have Internet facility to submit their income tax return form (ITRF) using e-Filing.
Hence, the IRB requests taxpayers to utilise the facilities provided to ensure that the ITFF is submitted within the set period to avoid penalties.
Taxpayers who have no income from business sources are given additional time until May 15 to submit their BE or M (assessment year 2017) form via e-Filing.
Those who have income from business sources are given until July 15 to submit their Form B or M (year of assessment 2017) by e-Filing.
This extension does not apply to manual submissions of ITFF (paper form) where the deadline remains at April 30 for individuals who have no income from business or June 30 for those with income from business sources, said an IRB statement.
For the record, up to 9 am today 1.7499 million ITFFs were received via e-Filing. This is an increase of 5.52 per cent over the number received during the same period last year.
