KUALA LUMPUR — May 9, 2019: Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia or Putra, the latest political party approved by the Registrar of Societies, will focus on Selangor and Perak in its bid to win the 15th general election due latest in just over four years time.
This is because its protem president Datuk Ibrahim Ali considers the two states as critical areas in which non-Malay based parties are dominant in the administration.
“We have aspirations of winning the next general election and will be outlining several important criteria that each party member must have.
“Putra intends to champion Islam and protect the rights of the Bumiputeras,” the former Pasir Mas MP and minister said at a press conference today to announce the RoS approval.
Ibrahim said Putra, which uses the Malay headgear as its official symbol, was formed on the back of requests from many who he claimed are unhappy with the current political scenario. — Bernama
